Mick Foster, originally from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. He has since worked extensively in the fields of jazz, commercial and classical music as a saxophonist and composer. He regularly plays with a wide range of ensembles which include the Stan Sulzmann Big Band, the Michael Garrick Big Band, The London Jazz Orchestra, which has in recent years worked with Billy Cobham and Norma Winstone; Frank Griffith’s Nonet, Issie Barratt, La Banda Europa and the Back To Basie Orchestra. He has also worked with John Dankworth’s Generation Band, Trudy Kerr, Jacqui Dankworth, Mark Lockheart, The Philharmonia Orchestra, The London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra. Mick is an experienced teacher and educator, and currently teaches saxophone, jazz musicianship and leads ensembles at Trinity College of Music, London. He also coaches jazz ensembles and teaches general musicianship at Junior Trinity. He is regularly invited to lead groups at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. |
